Diego Bracco (b. Copenhagen, 1959)
The Italian-Uruguayan historian and novelist, has led a nomadic life which has taken him throughout the Americas and Europe to Seville, where he currently resides. He has a history degree from the Professor’s Institute of Uruguay and a Ph. D. from the University of Seville - European Doctorate Program. He is an active investigator for the Uruguayan Anthropological Museum and as a specialist in indigenous history takes part in archaeological expeditions.
Diego Bracco has published numerous academic books as well as countless articles in Uruguay, Paraguay, Germany and Spain for both specialized and non-specialized readers. Among his novels, El Mejor de los Mundos (Punto de Lectura, 2001) received the award Narrativa Universidad de Sevilla in addition to the Revelation Award from the Uruguayan Book Fair. The rights to his recent novel María de Sanabria (Nowtilus, 2007) have been sold to Portugal (Arteplural) and Brasil (Record), where it will be published at the end of 2008.
