Is a native of Bilbao, where he was born in 1965. He holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Classical Philology and Law and a Ph.D. in Philosophy. He also holds a position as Attorney on the State Council.

At the age of 38 Gomá received the Premio Nacional de Ensayo for his debut work Imitación y Experiencia (Pre-Textos, 2004). This was the first book of a tetrology that was followed by Aquiles en el Gineceo (Pre-Textos, 2007) and a third work which is in progress, Ejemplaridad Pública (Taurus 2009). Goma’s work has had a favourable reception from the public as well as from critics and academics, who see in this young philosopher the new “theoretician of exemplariness”. He has been invited to lecture by national and international institutions including the Instituto Cervantes and Universities such as Yale, Harvard, Boston and New York, among others.

In addition to the prestigious Premio National de Ensayo, Gomá was distinguished with the XIII Premio FIES of journalism for his article “La Majestad del Símbolo”.

He is at present director of the renowned Juan March Foundation..
