Jesús Marchamalo (b. Madrid, 1960)
Is a writer and journalist. He has spent much of his career working with Radio Nacional and Televisión Española and has received numerous awards, both for his work with these entities and for his journalistic achievements: Premio Internacional de Montecarlo, 1991; the Premio Internacional de Radio URTI, 1990; the Premio ICARO de Periodismo, 1989; the Premio Nacional de Periodismo Miguel Delibes, 1999.
His published books include, among others, La Venganza, el Placer de la Justicia Salvaje (Espasa, 1995), Bocadillos de Delfín, Anuncios y Vida Cotidiana en la Posguerra Española (Grijalbo, 1996), La Tienda de Palabras (Siruela, 1999), Tocar los Libros (CEP-Cuenca, 2004), 39 Escritores y Medio (Siruela, 2006) and Las Bibliotecas Perdidas, (Renacimiento, 2008).
Jesús Marchamalo has been especially active in the field of cultural journalism, collaborating regularly with the literary supplement of the newspaper ABC, with the periodical Muy Interesante and with the Centro Virtual del Instituto Cervantes, among others.
For seven seasons he wrote and presented for Televisión Española the TV program Al Habla which served to examine, cultivate and promote the Spanish Language. He is currently collaborating with the Fundación Antonio Pérez of Cuenca on several projects that involve the divulging of contemporary art.
